Great question. The auto-matching feature is found under the Campaign setting in the advanced section. However, it is not available on all accounts. I your account must meet a certain spending requirement for it to be available.

Thanks for the fantastic tips.

One question: You say to turn off "auto-matching." Do you mean broad match? I could find no reference to auto-matching in my AdWords account.

@ Niel

Thanks for the comment. I knew that would be a controversial point! :)

The reason I discourage worrying too much about click fraud is that the time spent monitoring only adds financial cost and opportunity cost to a PPC campaign. I recognize, however, that there are times when it would be prudent to audit your campaign for suspicious activity, especially with large, high spend campaigns. Because I deal primarily with small to mid-size businesses (and I believe my readers fit in that category too), they simply cannot afford spending to much time and money worrying about fraud.

Thanks again for the Comment.

Great list article, but I would like to debate one of your points.

You say Don’t Worry about Click Fraud.

If click fraud is at 10-16% of your clicks, that is a substantial amount of your budget being spent on low quality clicks which will not convert.

I say worry about click fraud and reduce that overhead to improve the quality of your campaign.

Monitor where the repeated and low quality clicks are coming from and then add these sites/Ip addresses to your exclusion lists.
